It was misty in the harbour last night - masts, spars, barely clinking as the universe appeared to listen. Something was in the air. Something made us arise before the shipping forecast. Something felt artificial.
There was a flash, a nerve impulse, a synapse firing that didn't work, a thought that didn't reach its destination - there was no thunder.
It re-fired. The misty, moonless sky lit up briefly, softly. And once again, no thunder.
