Mike's Manic Minute 02 Feb 2005 (0.92MB; download) --
February 2, 2005
And the results
are in . . .
I passed! (Whew!)
I mentioned on yesterday's program that I was taking one of the tests for a
Microsoft certification. What I didn't say is that it was the first test I've
taken, you know the sit down, answer the questions and get a grade kind of test,
since 1977!
The test contained a variety of good, hard questions but now that I've taken it
I have a better appreciation of the value of certifications.
I certainly learned about some things that I had never used before but it
certainly isn't a substitute for experience!
Skype, Skype,
Skype. . .
This evening I participated in a conference call using Skype. The quality was
good enough but it wasn't quite what I expected. In 2001 and 2002 I was a
co-founder of a startup that built an project-oriented email system and we used
Yahoo Instant Messenger's Audio Conferencing to have group meetings 3 times a
week.
Verdict: Skype when used for real phone calls is cool, for web conferencing, not
bad.
Podcast of the
day:

This is mainly a blog but is occasionally a podcast.
It is hosted by someone I recently met, T.L. Pierce who is a a great
communicator.
