Podcast NYC: Alley Cuts #3 (21.47MB; download) -- Chris Yurchuck is the featured artist on this episode of Alley Cuts. Chris is what I would call a professional musician/singer/songwriter. His highly appealing blend of pop, rock and country music sounds as good as anything you're likely to hear on the radio today. The quality of the songwriting, production and musicianship is evident in each of the six tracks featured in this segment. Chris has an upbeat vibe that translates well in his music. Don't be surprised if you find yourself humming one of his tunes as you go about your day. Check out Chris Yurchuck on the web at http://www.chrisyurchuck.com.
Tracks on the Show: Coming Attractions, Mrs. Jones, Running Undercover, Karma, Senorita, Hiding Out From You
PLUS - A "sneak peak" cut from an artist on the next episode of Alley Cuts. Selected by: Harold Gilchrist [ stations ], Wed, 09 Mar 2005 02:51:39 MST

Stephen Colbert On NPR's Fresh Air (26.00MB; download) -- This is from the January 24, 2005 program of Fresh Air with Terry Gross. It's pretty cool. Colbert discusses his ideology and protocol for comedy. Specifically, what he considers fair comedy, and what kinds of comedy aren't allowed. He has rules. Neat interview. Check it out. Disruptive Technologies and Distance Education (1.93MB; download) -- )-- Play the podcast. (Downloadable sound file).Education is expensive. People will pay something for a rite of passage, but they have certain expectations of their tuition dollar. What this means to me, as an instructor, or designer / developer of courses to be delivered in possibly yet-undefined ways, boils down to professionalism and flexibility. I have to make a commitment to deliverability and service. I can?t let challenges dismay me. I can?t let myself get caught up in being ?right? or ?wrong? ? what I have to do is listen. As I listen, certain issues will converge, and I will have to pay attention. If I don?t, I risk losing all the progress I?ve made. The problem with disruptive technologies is that they require you to look at every situation in a very individualized manner. ... Career-Op: What to do? - from the archives - September 8, 2000 (5.13MB; download) -- Children are very advanced in their computer knowledge today. Through their exposure to computers at home and at school they are much more advanced than most of us were at the same age. That said, though, many children seem to lack an understanding of the variety of high-tech jobs that await them when they graduate from college. This makes it very difficult for a student to focus their high-tech education. Careers today have expanded beyond the fireman/policeman/nurse/secretary choices of the past. As high-tech careerists we can help to clarify these choices for the next generation.
